Melissa's perspective on guys with big hands

This is an exchange that took place on Twitter between @melissa808 and myself (@parkrat). I laughed so hard when I read her response that I literally fell on the floor laughing while trying to suck down the sip of iced tea that I had in my mouth.  After thinking about why this was so humorous to me I realized that it was because I never expected Melissa to be so quick. Hahahaha. Gotcha!

In any case, I wanted to preserve this for future reference and an example of how that "pushy Chinee broad" is a total crack up.

@melissa808 10:41 AM Jul 28th @ParkRat I have never asked u to hold my mangos! U can barely hold a cup with ur gorilla hands! (@KGMB9's phrase) http://tinyurl.com/dn7mvq

@ParkRat 10:47 AM Jul 28th in reply to Melissa808 You know what they say about guys with big hands right? Big gloves.

@melissa808 10:48 AM Jul 28th in reply to ParkRat I thought guys with big hands have big nostrils.

@ParkRat 10:50 AM Jul 28th RT @Melissa808: @ParkRat I thought guys with big hands have big nostrils. - HAHAHA! Damn you! I almost had iced tea up the nose!

@melissa808 10:50 AM Jul 28th in reply to ParkRat oh, I just crack myself up! Where's @LenaHanson to witness these things?

Lunch at Tae's Teppanyaki with @melissa808 and @tenbears

On the way to Tae's @melissa808 is telling me about how this guy started in Daei and then finally got so popular he opened his own restaurant. So I ask her what it is that he makes and she tells me it is this thinly sliced steak roll thing. Now for anyone who knows me or has seen some of my posts. A STEAK place with RED MEAT is not exactly high on my list of places to eat ever since I stopped eating red meat. Lucky for me, they also had a pork dish and it was GREAT!

Here is a quick video we shot of what we had and the aftermath.

Dinner at Maple Garden/Yen King (McCully, Hawaii)

This was the first night this summer that we had all the kids (one daughter was at Grandma Summer Camp) in one place and so figured we would go out somewhere.  We used to love to go to Yen King when they were at Kahala Mall and are happy that he found a place to re-open that wasn't too far away from us.  The owner still knows our order of shrimp and noodles no vegetables and that makes it feel like nothing has changed.

The girl's opted for the buffet.

Sizzling seafood platter.  This dish is literally sizzling.  The little one was a little freaked out when he saw that they added a little squid with all it's tentacles to the mix of seafood which wasn't previously there. Well not that we can remember.  He kept on asking "who's gonna eat that?" Which wasn't a problem. I did. YUM!

Egg foo YUM! My wife loves this dish.

We ordered two orders of this shrimp noodle dish because the older boy usually eats almost the whole thing by himself. It wasn't to be last night though and we ended up taking home the leftovers.  He's already claimed it for his own as his lunch.

All in all a very delicious and filling time was had by all.

Dinner at Camellia Buffet

Since we needed to drop the daughter off in Waikiki for a party we figured we would try someplace different.  The boys had never been to a place where you cook your own food at the table so we decided to give them a treat and check out Camellia Buffet in McCully.

Sashimi, jello, corn.

A whole bunch of stuffs that I would mostly not eat.  This was my wife's.

Chicken.  Oh noooo! No cook me!

Threw some pork on there too.  The pork was spicy!

Dessert!

The boys approve of this place.  At $20/adult and $10/child (the little one was free because I guess he's still small enough) it was a nice meal and we left very satisfied.  After a few more trips back to get more chicken and sashimi of course.

Iced Tea SODA! Nooooo!

While making a quick stop at Don Quixote to pick something up to eat and drink my wife and I came across this thing called Iced Tea Soda by Aloha Maid.

Now there are a number of things that should have kept us away from this thing.  First of all the name.  Iced Tea SODA?  That is just WRONG!  Tea and soda?  The second part was the fact that it is Aloha Maid NATURAL.  I didn't realize that carbonation was something that could be considered natural?  Then there is the fact that it states it has natural lemon flavor "with other natural flavors". What the heck does that mean? There are many flavors in nature that I personally would prefer to NOT have in my drink. Are any of those in here?

In any case, my wife being the adventurous person that she is (she married me, right?) said "I'll try it." and so we bought one.  Then she added "I can always just give it to you if I don't like it." D'oh!

When we reached our destination my notices the top of the can.

Now I don't know about you, but I think Japanese inventor type people are just crazy. They come up with some of the weirdest stuff I have ever seen.  Some are definitely pretty cool, but others are just not meant to be.  So upon discovering the fact that this is most definitely something targeted at the Japanese market I knew we were in trouble.

She pops the top and immediately passes me the can. YUCK!  I say "How bad can it be?" and take a swig for myself.  Oh boy.....that thing SUCKS!  My wife's comment then was "That is 50 cents I would like to get back."

I'll fully admit that it just may be us or that it is an acquired taste. But it is not one that we will be trying again any time soon.  Crazy Japanese buggahs! :)

20,000 Non-substantive Tweets and Counting!

I'm not sure what to think about this particular "milestone".  It is now maybe a year and 20,000 updates later and I still think that I really have nothing to say. Although, now that I think about it I have 20,000 updates to PROVE that I have nothing really substantive to say. Hahaha.

Oh and who was the "lucky" recipient of my 20,000th Tweet? @joannie808 with @ryankanno coming a close second.

I look at those last two posts and it just magnifies the theme of this particular post for me.  Because both contain "inside" jokes in them and so are of little value to more than a small circle of Tweeples.

The inside joke with @joannie808 was that when I bumped into her at Long's. Well actually she called out to me "Hi ParkRat!". She introduces me to her boyfriend and proceeds to tell me that he is @hawaii's brother. We have a bit of conversation. I rag on him some about how can he be @hawaii's brother but yet not be on Twitter, etc. And then I proceed to say that I can't believe that he is @hawaii's brother because he looks nothing like him. And not just in passing, I made it a point (stupidly now in retrospect) about how little he looks like @hawaii and how I don't believe it.  Later that night I am chatting with @hawaii and find out that they are brothers. Just not blood brothers!  Damn it @joannie808! Open mouth, stick foot in. I hate the taste of my toes.

The inside joke with @ryankanno is a lot simpler and far less embarrassing. Well that is not completely true as it is slightly sad to have to admit that my basketball team sucks.  In any case, @ryankanno and I play in the same basketball league and as previously mentioned my team sucks. We have not made it out of the first round of the playoffs since entering the league and I don't even want to think about how many seasons that represents.  In any case, now we have the secret to winning....plan a strategy!

In any case, no matter how much drivel I may post as updates, I love Twitter and the people who make up my Twitterstream.  Some of who I only know what they look like as a small 1 inch square and also those who I have had the privilege to meet IRL as well.

Mahalo to all!
-R.

Dinner at Sumo Ramen (Kapahulu, Hawaii)

Beef bowl.  My daughter ordered this and she didn't really like the sauce they used with the beef. Not sure what she didn't like about it, but it couldn't have been that bad because she finished all of the beef!

Mochiko Chicken Curry/Ramen Combo. This comes with 4 pieces of gyoza as well but I took the pic before the gyoza came.

Char Siu Ramen NO GREEN ONIONS!

Wait a minute!!!

One sneaky green onion got into my bowl!  He was left to die a slow death on the rim of my bowl.

Side order gyoza too.  The little one and the wife love their gyoza.

Dinner at Victoria Inn (Kaimuki, Hawaii)

This place seems to pop up a lot this year as a place where we end up eating.  I think it might be due to the fact that our youngest likes the miso soup there and often times ends up ordering only that. That doesn't mean that is all that he eats as he always seems to find a way to get a little bit of something from everyone else's plate before it is all said and done.

The other thing that I think is both a good and bad thing is that the place is almost never crowded.  Good because I hate crowds, bad because well, how come no one eats there? Yipes!

This was some kind of Victoria Inn sandwich special thing. Double decker sandwich with turkey, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon.

Omlette w/spam.  There was a whole bunch of other stuff that came with this thing that I don't remember what was left out.

Won ton min.

Saimin. No vegetables. And especially no onions.

@jlieu and @tracitoguchi Meet @kahalamallctr IRL

Yes they've met each other before IRL, but apparently never actually AT the mall. Even though both spend what seems like a large part of their lives there.
