T-Mobile's Spin Doctors at Work
The background here is that for most of the year (if not longer) T-mobile has been sending out stuff saying "save trees" "go green" blah, blah, blah. All good messages in and of themselves don't get me wrong, I am all for saving trees and such. BUT I didn't change my plan to paperless because I felt as though I was being treated like I was stupid or something. The real facts notwithstanding that I may actually BE stupid. Here is the way I looked at it.
T-mobile had told me that I was getting my paper bills with the detailed billing because I was such a loyal customer and had been with them forever and so I was grandfathered in. BUT if I were to ever opt out of the program if I were to opt back in then there would be a charge. Ok, fair enough I can see that part. But where is it where I get a DISCOUNT for not having them have to print, sort and mail my 7 page bill? How come I'm the only one giving up something here? Aren't they saving some money by not having to do any of that stuff? Oh yeah, I'm the bad person for not taking the option to save trees, but they are the ones with a direct benefit if I opt to save trees. Huh?
Ok, so apparently their "everyone do good and save trees" angle to trying to get people to save them money didn't work. So now they come out with this...
Now they are going to basically charge everyone who is getting paper bills. So my being a loyal customer and "grandfathered" in is negated. Fine, it was only a matter of time when I would have caved anyways I guess. After all I do want to save trees and I almost never look at my paper bill anyways. But it was the principle of the thing! They are saving money by my opting for electronic but they don't offer me a piece of that. Heck by this new charge we even have a dollar amount. They should have offered me at least half so we could have split the burden of saving trees. A 75 cent discount for opting out of paper bills. Doesn't that seem more than reasonable to stop sending me a 7 page phone bill on paper? Well actually front and back so about 4 pages really.
Ok, water under the bridge, just start saving trees you lousy human being you! Yes, ok....but wait...according to them I will be "saving money" by doing this. Huh? So you want me to feel good about "saving money" on a charge that I was never getting to begin with and that YOU are imposing on me? Huh? Thank your Sir may I have another?!
It's not easy being a loyal customer. Sigh.

Lunching on Some Tombstone Pizza
Alex and I decided to have some Tombstone Pizza for lunch today. I know it isn't eating local, but we bought it from a local store. Oh wait, no we didn't. Well I'm eating it locally.
Notice the thinner sliced pieces. That was done on purpose because they taste better that way. Try it next time, slice some regular and then slice some of those in half and see how it tastes. The thinner ones taste better. But you can't make all of them thin or you won't appreciate the thin ones.
Time to eat! Enjoy!

Dinner @Zippys (Kahala, Hawaii)
Da Sumida Ohana decided to head on over to Zippy's to check out the specials of the month that was Tweeted (http://twitter.com/zippys). Obviously the shrimp scampi is a favorite of the family's.
Apparently a dessert (sundae) was in order as well and was divided amongst all who was willing to pick up a spoon and go for a taste.
We all left very very satisfied and full.

Tweetup at Bangcok Chef (Manoa, Hawaii)
In attendance were, @funhiguy @ParkRat @addfun @davekozuki @tadasauce @ryankanno @susieschmoozee @Bigbadpig. I didn't get a chance to talk to @bigbadpig at all and so am going to have to try and track him down again. For that matter, I did get to talk to @addfun enough to know that she is always in photos drinking, but doesn't consider herself a drinker. I still don't know how that can be! Hahaha.
Thanks Garry for organizing a great tweetup! And for trying to expand my eating world. It isn't going to happen, but I appreciate the effort.
